Tectvs is committed to the design of positive and engaging educational spaces that are adaptive for unique learning experiences. As Architects, we recognise that clients’ requirements differ, given the range of pedagogies that are dependent on the educational facility’s locality, curriculum, and student demographics.
Tectvs creates designs to achieve pedagogy targets and support improved student skills outcomes and enhanced student competencies, such that students are at the centre of learning, with teachers as facilitators. The aim is to design flexible, comfortable, and responsive learning environments that provide students with the opportunity to maximise their potential and actively engage in their education.
A collaborative approach ensures a clear understanding of the needs of the school community so Tectvs can achieve creative, thoughtful, and long-lasting solutions for clients.
Parafield Gardens R-7 STEM
An essential project objective was to create colourful, fun, welcoming spaces, inviting to the entire school community. All areas had to be flexible so that they encouraged a more collaborative style of learning across all the year levels.
St George College Library, Mile End
Tectvs, as master planner and Architect for the school, helped deliver and integrate a number of new facilities and learning centres at the campus. The new library exceeded the school’s expectations, including expanding user capacity. It quickly became the hub of the school.
Parafield Gardens High School STEM
The STEM works for Parafield Gardens High School included; the refurbishment of the ground and first floor of a two-storey 1960’s building, the provision of a lift and a digital art suite upgrade. Tectvs worked successfully and collaboratively with all stakeholders to interpret and meet the school’s vision, delivering functional and successful architecture.
St George College Hospitality Trade Training Centre, Mile End
The Federal Government’s Trade Training Centres in Schools program with $2.5 billion spent over 10 years enabled secondary students to access vocational education through Trade Training Centres. St George College secured the funding under the scheme to develop its Hospitality industry training centre at Mile End. The design challenged the Tectvs team to create a newly built identity for the school that would complement the existing structures on site.
Whyalla Special School Relocation, Whyalla
The site of the Whyalla Special School comprised a mixture of semi-permanent, transportable buildings originating from the mid-1970's. Tectvs was given the task to start fresh on the site to create an exciting and safe learning environment. The school now presents itself as a striking place of learning within the community.
University of SA Cafeterias, City West, Mawson Lakes, and Magill Campuses
University of South Australia (UniSA) review of its cafeterias resulted in a program of revitalization for these key centres of student life. Tectvs provided design services for the upgrade of facilities at the university campuses, with the brief to change the image of the venues from the institutional cafeteria to contemporary cafés.
